Stalk and ear rot diseases continue to become more evident in many cornfields across Nebraska where prolonged periods of wet weather have delayed corn harvest.
The Crop Residue Exchange is an interactive online tool to help crop and cattle producers connect and develop mutually beneficial agreements to use crop residue for grazing. A new feature allows producers to also list forage cover crops for grazing.

Recent wet, rainy conditions are creating challenges for soybean producers wanting to dry and store this year's crop. NDSU Engineer Ken Hellevang offers advice for these conditions.
Storing soybeans at about 13% moisture can reduce mechanical damage and provide for a longer and higher quality storage. Here are some things to consider when storing soybeans.

As growers in western Nebraska look at new pulse crops to integrate into their rotations, a UNL plant pathologist works to identify possible disease threats. Cowpea (black-eyed pea) is being studied now.
Based on October 1 conditions the USDA NASS Crop Production Report still forecasts record yield and production numbers for corn and soybean in Nebraska.
