Silage Conference: What to Grow and How to Store and Price It
Three Key Considerations for Planting Corn and Soybeans
Risk of Freeze Damage in Early Planted Corn
With dry conditions the last week and a forecast for rain this weekend, corn planting is progressing rapidly in Nebraska. While warm conditions may persist through April, the potential for freeze risk can still be high when early-planted corn emerges.
DiFlexx DUO: A New Corn Herbicide
DiFlexx™ DUO is a herbicide for control of annual broadleaf and grass weeds in field corn, corn grown for silage, popcorn, and seed corn and for post-harvest burndown weed control. It is a premix of DiFlexx (dicamba: 19.73%) and Laudis (tembotrione: 2.83%).
Nutrient Levels, Fertility, and the Price Squeeze
Current economic conditions are a challenge for crop producers to earn profits from corn, soybean, winter wheat, and milo production. Following is a discussion around how to make nutrient decisions this year. Robert Tigner is an Extension Educator focusing on agricultural economic issues.
Managing and Preparing for Nitrogen Loss
Spring is officially here, and with it the uncertainty of spring rains or late snow showers. For many Nebraska farmers, finishing preparation for planting or waiting on the starting line to plant is the number one priority. Nitrogen (N) management may not be the most important thought crossing their minds. But, now is a great time to think about N management for this upcoming season.
New Corn Herbicides for 2016
Several new herbicides have been registered for weed control in corn. These herbicides do not have an active ingredient with a new mode of action, but rather are pre-mixtures of existing herbicides. They can provide excellent weed control if applied according to label directions. A season-long weed management plan should include herbicides with multiple modes of action.
