Soybean and Corn Yield and Acreage Trends

Nebraska soybean and corn yields have steadily increased from 1971 to 2017 in both irrigated and rainfed production systems. Nebraska irrigated soybean increased at a linear linear rate of 0.68 bu/ac, and irrigated corn increased at a rate of 2.17 bu/ac.

Nebraska corn condition rated 87% good to excellent, with 82% at silking, well ahead of the five-year average of 68%. Soybean condition rated 85% good to average with 78% blooming, near the average.

Corn condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 12% fair, 67% good, and 19% excellent. Corn silking was at 8%, near last year's 7% and the five-year average of 4%.
