Corn & Soybean Stocks Up from Last Year
Nebraska corn stocks in all positions on December 1, 2017 totaled 1.46 billion bushels, up 3% from 2016, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 910 million bushels are stored on farms, up 5% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 551 million bushels, are down slightly from last year.

Winter wheat harvest has been completed across most of Nebraska, according to the July 30 report from USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Significant rainfall of an inch or more was received across most of the state during the previous week and a few north central counties received as much as four inches of rain.

The number of farms and ranches declined during 2016, according to USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. The number of farms and ranches in the state, at 48,400 was down 300 farms from 2015.

Nebraska corn stocks in all positions on March 1 totaled 956 million bushels, up 16% from 2015, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 530 million bushels are stored on farms, up 23% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 426 million bushels, are up 8% from last year.
