The effects of corn residue utilization on yield, crop water use, and the soil resource will be the focus of a seminar Friday, March 3, in Lincoln. Marty Schmer, research agronomist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service, will present the program hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Agronomy and Horticulture.

Jhala Receives Early Career Outstanding Weed Scientist Award

Amit Jhala, Nebraska Extension weed management specialist and frequent contributor to CropWatch, has been honored with an Early Career Outstanding Weed Scientist Award by the Weed Science Society of America. This award recognizes outstanding contributions made by an early career weed scientist in research, extension, and/or teaching in the US. Jhala joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty in 2012 and has a split appointment in research and extension in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture.
