Corn, Soybean Condition 86% Good to Excellent
Corn and soybean condition rated 86% good to excellent in Monday's Nebraska Crop Progress and Condition report from USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Corn condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 12% fair, 67% good, and 19% excellent. Corn silking was at 8%, near last year's 7% and the five-year average of 4%.

Corn Harvest Makes Good Progress in Last Week, Now Near Average
With mostly dry conditions Nebraska's corn harvest made good progress in the last week and was estimated to be 86% complete, up considerably from the 68% reported last week and near the five-year average of 90%. Last year 92% had been harvested at this point in the season.
USDA NASS Forecasts Record/Top Yields for Most Crops
Based on October 1 conditions, Nebraska's 2017 corn production is forecast at 1.68 billion bushels, down 1% from last year's production, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Area to be harvested for grain, at 9.30 million acres, is down 3% from a year ago. Yield is forecast at 181 bushels per acre, up 3 bushels from last year.

USDA-NASS: Progress Toward Crop Maturity Near Normal
For the week ending September 3, temperatures averaged two to six degrees above normal across western Nebraska, but two to six degrees below normal in the east, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Precipitation was scattered and limited with rainfall of less than half an inch received in some northcentral and Panhandle counties.
USDA: Nebraska Farm Real Estate Down 2%; Cropland Down 6%
Nebraska's farm real estate value, a measurement of the value of all land and buildings on farms, decreased from 2016, according to USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Farm real estate value for 2017 averaged $2,900 per acre, down $50 per acre (2%) from last year.
