Jim Jansen is an agricultural economist with the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center. His current outreach efforts focus on farm management and land economics. He conducts the annual UNL Nebraska Farm Real Estate Report and serves as a member of the extension team providing risk management outreach.

UNL's Soil and Plant Analytical Lab Closes

A review of the UNL Soil Plant Analytical Lab (SPAL) was recently completed by UNL's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In this review several factors were examined to determine the future success of the lab, including cost of operations, competition, and demand for the lab's services.

High Plains Ag Lab Summer Field Day is Aug. 12

Crop production topics will be the focus of the Summer Crops Field Day Tuesday, Aug. 12 at UNL's High Plains Ag Lab near Sidney. Registration begins at 11 a.m. at the Ag Lab shop, followed by lunch at 11:30 with a presentation by Charlie Fenster about the Farm and Ranch Museum.
