Recently a farmer asked how to take a good soil sample for soybean cyst nematode (SCN). This is a question we're getting asked more often, especially at this time of year.

There is both a science and an art to collecting good soil samples.

USDA Crop Production Report

Based on September 1 conditions, Nebraska's 2014 corn crop is forecast at 1.57 billion bushels, down 4% from last year, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Nationally, both the corn and soybean crops would set new yield records if projections hold true.
