Based on May 1 conditions, Nebraska's 2009 winterwheat crop is forecast at 67.2 million bushels, down 9% from last year's crop, according tothe USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field office. Average yield isforecast at 42 bushels per acre, down 2 bushels from last year but 2 bushels above the 10-yearaverage.

How many acres of corn, soybeans, and wheat have farmersplanted this season? Has the total area planted to principal crops declined, as expected? Are moregrain stocks continuing to be stored on farm versus off?
