Congratulations to the Maple Creek Creators 4-H Club of Colfax County and all the winners of the Innovative Youth Corn Challenge sponsored by the Nebraska Corn Board and Nebraska Extension. Entries for the 2019 contest are due by March 15.
This contest, open to 4-H members (ages 10 and older as of January 1) or FFA members (in-school), guides participants through all aspects of corn production, as well as agricultural careers related to corn production.
Perennial favorite David Kohl, agricultural economics professor emeritus at Virginia Tech University, will present the first of four programs in the Farmers and Rancher College series. Kohl will speak Nov. 27 at the Bruning Opera House.
Teams of youth interested in learning crop scouting and competing for cash prizes are encouraged to enter the 5th annual Crop Scouting Competition for Nebraska Youth. Teams are encouraged to form and register now for the July 26 event so they can start studies and preparations to compete.
