High Grasshopper Pressure Warrants Concern for Winter Wheat Planting

Grasshopper activity has been high in many areas of Nebraska this year and wheat growers should be planning how they're going to manage this pest in seedling wheat this fall. Grasshopper populations decline through late summer and fall, but can remain in significant densities until after the first hard freeze.

Keep Testing Forage, Despite Lab Change

When the UNL Soil Plant Analytical Lab (SPAL) was closed in July, forage testing, as well as grain and soil testing, was discontinued. We realize this has caused concern among Nebraska forage growers who regularly tested and used the results as a management tool.
