WIA Conference to Focus on Communicating on the Farm - UNL CropWatch, Jan. 25, 2013

“Communicating in Challenging Times” will be the theme of the 2013 Women in Agriculture Conference to be held Feb. 21-22 in Kearney. The keynote speaker, Jolene Brown of West Branch, Iowa, will open the discussion of family communication on the farm/ranch. The capstone speaker, Temple Grandin of Colorado State University, will discuss “Improving Animal Welfare: A Practical Approach”.

Cheryl Burkhart-Kriesel will look at “Your Community: Why You Need to Care About Recruiting New Residents,” and cowboy poet R.P. Smith will entertain with his wit and wisdom. In addition, the conference will feature 30 workshop speakers on a variety of topics. The conference will be at the Holiday Inn.  The preregistration of $100 is due by February 8. After that date, registration is  $120.
