• Cropping Patterns in Western Canada – Derek Brewin, Professor of Agricultural Economics, University of Manitoba says there has been a big increase in canola acreage in Canada in the past few years with improved genetics and Roundup Ready® hybrids.
   
• World Trade Organization – Jason Grant, Virginia Tech University, says U.S. agricultural producers benefit from U.S. participation in the WTO.
   
• Farm Bill Development – Joe Glauber, USDA Chief Economist, says the U.S. farm policy was developed with little regard for WTO discipline in the 1990s, but the constraints established in the Uruguay Round do have an impact on farm programs.
   
• Food Traceability Technology – Jill Hobbs, University of Saskatchewan, reports that pilot technology is being developed to provide information on food traceability and wholesomeness. Research is ongoing on what information consumers value the most.
   
• Summer Heat – Al Dutcher, UNLExtension state climatologist, says it will be a hot week in Nebraska with temperatures mostly in the upper 80s to upper 90s. The best chance of thunderstorms will occur Monday night into Tuesday morning.
