This week's Market Journal features an interview with a USDA-ARS scientist who explains why cellulosic ethanol may be the fuel of the future to meet federal goals for renewable fuels. Wally Wilhelm, U.S.D.A Agricultural Research Service plant physiologist, says crop residues are one source of biomass but we alsoneed to be concerned about maintaining soil organic matter. New crops such as switch grass are likely to become another popular source of biomass.
