Biofuels Forum: Two Sides Face Off on E15 Gas

Biofuels Forum: Two Sides Face Off on E15 Gas

May 22, 2009

E10 has been the standard fuel blend in gasoline for many years, but now the EPA is considering changing to a higher blend closer to E15. Join the UNL Biofuels Forum on Friday, May 29, to hear from two perspectives — the corn industry and the cattle industry. Guest speakers will be Michael Kelsey, executive vice-president of the Nebraska Cattlemen, and Don Hutchen, executive director of the Nebraska Corn Board. After their presentations, forum participants will be invited to join the discussion. The program will be from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. CT Friday, May 29.

The next Biofuels Forum will feature Nebraska State Senator Ken Haar, who authored LB436 which was recently signed into law. It allows for a new version of energy "net metering" in Nebraska for qualified facilities at or below 25 KW capacity, including methane, wind, solar, biomass, hydropower, or geothermal. The on-line discussion will be held at 10:30 a.m. June 26.
