High Plains Ag Lab Field Day June 23

Wheat production will be the focus of the UNL High Plains Agricultural Labratory Field Day June 23 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The event will include presentations and plot tours at the facility six miles northwest of Sidney in the Nebraska Panhandle.

The High Plains Lab covers 2,400 acres, with one-third in dryland crop rotations and two-thirds in pasture. Each year 50 to 60 research trials are conducted by agricultural scientists based at UNL's Panhandle Research and Extension Center or the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Expertise includes agronomy; plant breeding, physiology, pathology; soil fertility; irrigation; entomology; weed science; marketing and economics; and livestock nutrition.
