UNL Extension hosts insect light traps at three locations and regularly posts the results to the Web. View reports for these locations at the following websites:

This information is helpful to understanding the timing of moth flights, and can help direct when scouting is needed. With many pests developing earlier than usual this year, it's important to keep track of insect development.

Information from light traps cannot predict activity in individual fields or replace the need to scout. A variety of factors such as planting date, variety/hybrid, and other cultural practices greatly influence
where insects go to find food.
