Today’s agriculture is constantly changing, making it important for producers and their families to stay knowledgeable about current issues. Key among these issues for agricultural producers is risk management and how it affects an operation’s bottom line.

This year UNL Extension is offering a new program, From Farms to Families, to empower women in agriculture with a better understanding of the issues that affect their operation’s profitability. Programs, each consisting of two evening sessions, will be held at three Nebraska sites: Opera House at Bruning, UNL's Agricultural Research and Development Center (ARDC) near Ithaca, and UNL's Kimmel Education and Research Center in Nebraska City.

During the first session, participants will learn how to recognize the effects of personality types on businesses, learn more about crop insurance, understand and start to develop an estate plan, and become a better advocate for agriculture.

The second session focuses on agricultural land leasing, becoming more comfortable with computer technology, understanding more about family relationship dynamics, and the benefits of new value-added beef cuts.

Cost of the program is $25 for one session or $45 for both sessions. The price includes all materials and a light meal.

Registration

Registrations are due at least one week before each session. To register, contact the UNL Extension offices listed in the box for the intended site.
