UNL CropWatch July 1, 2010: July Farm Mediation Clinics

UNL CropWatch July 1, 2010: July Farm Mediation Clinics

July 1, 2010

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture's Farm Mediation Program will be conducting programs this month in the following cities:

  • Norfolk – Thursday, July 8
  • North Platte – Thursday, July 8
  • Valentine – Friday, July 9
  • Lexington – Thursday, July 15
  • Beatrice – Monday, July 19

The clinics offer individual and confidential information and education on farm finances; laws, regulations and policies governing Farm Services Agency (FSA); debt restructuring and other legal options; and how the mediation program can help work with lenders to find an agreeable and workable solution. Such services may be helpful when a producer receives an adverse decision from the USDA FSA (for example, related to a crop disaster declaration) or needs to resolve a borrower-lender issue with a bank.

Call the Nebraska Rural Response Hotline at (800) 464-0258 to make an appointment and to learn the clinic location for the city and date requested.

For more information about the program, contact Farm Mediation Program Director Marian Beethe at the Nebraska Department of Agriculture at (402) 471-6890 or visit the Farm Mediation website.
