2014 Nebraska Dry Edible Bean Variety Trials

2014 Nebraska Dry Edible Bean Variety Trials

Results of the 2014 dry bean variety trials conducted by the University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center have been posted to CropWatch at cropwatch.unl.edu/varietytest/othercrops.

These trials were planted at two locations:

  • great northern, kidney, pinto and the Cooperative Dry Bean Nursery trials were planted at the Mitchell Ag Lab, and
  • all market classes were planted at the Scottsbluff Ag Lab.

Results were compiled by Jim Schild, Extension Educator; Robert Hawley, Extension Technician; and Gary Stone, Extension Educator.

The report includes a description of the trials and tables listing yield, moisture, test weight, and other data for each variety within the market classes. The descriptions include detailed information about the plots, such as planting dates, seeding rates, herbicide treatments, row width, irrigation, harvest date, and other details.

This variety trial section of CropWatch includes results for recent years, along with variety trial results for oats, peas, proso millet, and sunflower.

In addition to the website, the report is being published in the Bean Bag newsletter published by the Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association.
