Nebraska farmers made steady progress on harvest activities last week, with 6.4 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sept. 15, 2025. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 6% very short, 21% short, 66% adequate and 7% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 6% very short, 25% short, 62% adequate and 7% surplus — an improvement over mid-summer levels but still reflecting areas of lingering dryness.

Field Crops Report:

  • Corn:
    • Dented: 82% — behind 90% last year and 91% for the five-year average.
    • Mature: 35% — behind 43% last year and 45% for the five-year average.
    • Harvested: 3% — behind 4% last year and equal to 4% for the five-year average.
    • Condition: 1% very poor, 3% poor, 18% fair, 54% good and 24% excellent.
  • Soybean:
    • Dropping leaves: 39% — behind 41% last year and 55% for the five-year average.
    • Condition: 1% very poor, 2% poor, 19% fair, 55% good and 23% excellent.
  • Sorghum:
    • Coloring: 75% — behind 92% last year and 89% for the five-year average.
    • Mature: 8% — behind 11% last year and 22% for the five-year average.
    • Harvested: 1% — equal to last year and the five-year average.
    • Condition: 0% very poor, 1% poor, 14% fair, 46% good and 39% excellent.
  • Winter Wheat:
    • Planted: 17% — behind 19% last year and near 16% for the five-year average.

Pasture and Range Report:

Pasture and range conditions were rated 8% very poor, 13% poor, 29% fair, 39% good and 11% excellent.
