Nebraska Extension is tracking how a wide range of forage and pasture species are performing this season through demonstration plots near Valentine, offering an early look at establishment, nitrogen management and grazing potential under irrigated conditions. This episode of N Field Observations with Extension Educator Amy Timmerman highlights winter annuals, pasture establishment strategies and cover crop systems being evaluated on small-acreage plots, including winter wheat, triticale, oats, barley, peas and white clover. The project is also exploring weed management, nitrogen fixation and grazing opportunities ahead of a planned June field day.
