USDA Offers Emergency Loans for Producers Impacted by March Wildfires

Emergency USDA loans are now available to help producers in Nebraska and South Dakota recover from 2026 wildfire damage — including repairs to buildings, equipment and livestock losses.

Emergency physical loss loans through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) are available to help agricultural producers recover from wildfire damage in Nebraska and South Dakota.

These loans can assist producers in repairing or replacing damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of their operations, including livestock losses. Commonly affected property may include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut-bearing trees, as well as harvested or stored crops and hay.

The assistance is available for losses associated with wildfires that occurred on March 12, 2026, and continue to impact affected areas.

Primary counties eligible:

  • Nebraska — Arthur, Blaine, Cherry, Dawson, Garden, Keith, Lincoln, Morrill, Thomas

Contiguous counties also eligible:

  • Nebraska — Banner, Box Butte, Brown, Buffalo, Cheyenne, Custer, Deuel, Frontier, Gosper, Grant, Hayes, Hooker, Keya Paha, Logan, Loup, McPherson, Perkins, Phelps, Scotts Bluff, Sheridan
  • South Dakota — Bennett, Oglala Lakota, Todd, Tripp

Producers in eligible counties have until Monday, Nov. 23, 2026, to apply.
