Eastern Nebraska growers can start 2026 with a shot of practical, research-based ideas for corn and soybean season planning at the 2026 Eastern Nebraska Corn and Soybean Expo, set for Thursday, Jan. 22 at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center (ENREEC) near Mead.

Free and open to the public, the program kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with soy donuts sponsored by the Saunders County Soybean Growers, along with time to visit equipment and exhibitor booths. Beginning at 9 a.m., growers can take part in a full day of sessions designed to support 2026 production and planning decisions, concluding at 3 p.m.

“The Eastern Nebraska Corn and Soybean Expo will assist producers in planning for next year’s growing season,” said Aaron Nygren, Extension Educator, Saunders County. “We hope you come and learn from a variety of speakers and vendors about timely topics for corn and soybean production in 2026.”

The program is sponsored by Nebraska Extension in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Nebraska Soybean Board, and the Nebraska Corn Board.

Keynote Speaker

Mark Licht, associate professor and extension cropping systems specialist, Iowa State University, will deliver the keynote, “Soybean Management Misconceptions,” a refresher on soybean growth and development designed to help participants rethink common assumptions that can affect management decisions.

Additional program highlights include:

  • “Using Farm Financial Averages to Plan Ahead” — Tina Barrett, executive director, Nebraska Farm Business, Inc.
  • “Managing Nitrogen in 2026” — farmer panel
  • “Grain Marketing and Insurance” — Tredas
  • “What Did We Learn About Drone Applications in 2025” — on-farm research update

Updates will also be provided by the Nebraska Corn Board, Nebraska Soybean Board, Nebraska Corn Growers Association, and Nebraska Soybean Association, giving attendees a timely snapshot of current initiatives and priorities, along with what those efforts could mean for corn and soybean producers heading into 2026.

Participants will have an opportunity to visit with representatives from a variety of agriculture-related companies during a 40-minute exhibitor break at 10:05 a.m. A complimentary lunch will be served at noon.
