Nebraska grain stocks shifted sharply from a year ago, with soybean supplies on farms surging while wheat and sorghum stocks fell.

Nebraska corn stocks in all positions on Sept. 1, 2026 totaled 248 million bushels, up 50% from 2025, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 105.0 million bushels are stored on farms, up 50% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 95.8 million bushels, are up 49% from last year. 

Soybean stored in all positions totaled 27.4 million bushels, up 32% from last year. On-farm stocks of 8.80 million bushels are up 340% from a year ago, but off-farm stocks, at 18.6 million bushels, are down 1% from 2025.

Wheat stored in all positions totaled 38.1 million bushels, down 30% from a year ago. On-farm stocks of 4.0 million bushels are down 44% from 2025 and off-farm stocks of 34.1 million bushels are down 27% from last year. 

Sorghum stored in all positions totaled 1.424 million bushels, down 71% from a year ago. On-farm stocks of 65,000 bushels are down 76% from 2025 and off-farm stocks of 1.36 million bushels are down 71% from last year. 

Oat on-farm oat stocks totaled 500,000 bushels, down 44% from 2025.
