Nebraska's Most Wanted is on the loose. Grab your phone, head to the field and join Nebraska Extension experts in the ultimate summer scavenger hunt.
As crop pest activity reaches its peak in Nebraska corn and soybean, the #ScoutNebraska team has launched a new summer Bounty program that turns field scouting into a statewide challenge. Through three, two-week competitions, farmers and agricultural professionals can earn cash prizes by posting videos of featured crop pests found in Nebraska fields.
Each Friday, the #ScoutNebraska team reveals a new "Target Pest" during its 11 a.m. livestream on the ScoutNebraska YouTube Channel. Participants who miss the livestream can watch the reveal in ScoutNebraska's YouTube Shorts or check #ScoutNebraska social media posts for that week's featured pest.
The first ScoutNebraska Bounty kicked off July 17, and growers have until July 31 to spot the featured pest.
To join the hunt, participants simply need to:
- Find the Target: Watch the Friday YouTube livestream (live or recorded) or check #ScoutNebraska social media to learn that week’s featured pest.
- Film the Field: Capture a video clearly identifying that pest in a Nebraska field.
- Post and Tag: Share your video on X (formerly Twitter) or Facebook using the required hashtag #ScoutNebraska.
Prizes and Winner Selection
Each competition features a two-week open entry period. Two winners will be randomly drawn from all eligible posts on X or Facebook at the end of each challenge. All winners will receive:
- A $100 cash prize.
- An official #ScoutNebraska hat.
Program Rules and Eligibility
- Entries must clearly show the specific target pest or disease for that week to be eligible for the raffle.
- Winners will be selected via random drawing at the end of each week.
- This competition is open to agricultural professionals and farmers in Nebraska.
