Traditional in-person programs and meetings have been limited in 2020 amid the pandemic. With the need for new programming and communication strategies, Nebraska Extension Educators, led by Megan Taylor and Aaron Nygren, launched N Field Observations - short videos from members of Nebraska Extension sharing their observations and management recommendations real time from the field via Twitter using the hashtag #NField.  To date, more than 70 #NField Observation videos have been released on various topics, such as impacts of cold on seed germination, crop staging, hail impacts, disease development, and more.

Now, we are expanding the N Field Observations and introducing “N Field Chat” sessions starting this Tuesday August 18 at 7 pm.  N Field Chat is a live question and answer session on-line with experts from Nebraska Extension including both specialists and educators from throughout the state.  The goal of the program is to provide an additional opportunity for everyone to ask their crop production questions.  It is also an opportunity to catch up on what concerns are in our fields throughout the state and if there are problems that may require scouting or treatment.

On August 18th, Plant Pathologist Tamra Jackson-Ziems, Entomologist Bob Wright and Weed Scientist Amit Jhala will be available to answer pest questions.  They will be joined by fellow Extension Educators from around the state.

The event is free to attend but pre-registration is required.  Following your registration, an email will be sent providing information on how to join the “Chat,” as well as ways that questions and/or pictures can be shared prior to the event.
