Flood Damage

• Corn and Soybean Survival in Saturated and Flooded Soils with Market Journal video. Under what conditions are plants likely to survive and how to assess survival.

Corn Production

• Growing Degree Units and Corn Emergence. See how much different factors can affect emergence.
• Scout Emerging Corn for Insects; Don't Assume Protection. Cutworms, wireworms, or white grubs are the mostly likely at this time.
• Variegated and Black Cutworm Moth Trap Counts. Saline and Hamilton counties continue to be hot spots for variegated cutworms in Nebraska.   Black cutworm numbers continue to be very low.
• From April 24: Watch for Seedling Diseases in Early Planted Corn.

Soybean Production

• Recent Rains Favor Early Season Soybean Diseases. Recent rains and wet conditions will favor development of Pythium and Phytophthora in soybean.

Wheat Production

• Wheat Disease Update. A field survey in two south central counties this week found severity of stripe rust is still low but increasing; other diseases also low.
