[1] For differences between varieties that are equal to or greater than the LSD value, the chance that the difference is significant is 90%.

[2] Mean performance of all plots in the trial.

[3] Coefficient of Variation (CV) indicates the quality of a trial, and lower than 15 indicates a high-quality trial. For CV>15, there was higher than expected variability in the field or the data and the results should be used with caution.

Site InformationDetails
Collaborator:USDA MARC
Planting Date:6/2/2025
Target Seeding Rate:90,000 seeds/a
Harvest Date:11/13/2025
Fertility:9 gal 10-34-0 in furrow at planting; manually side-dressed with 100 lb/a 46-0-0
Herbicide/Fungicides:32 oz/a glyphosate pre-plant burndown; Peak, Warrant, 2,4-D applied at labeled rates post-emerge
Soil Type:Crete and Hastings silt loams
GPS:Restricted access site, NA
Planting Info: Planted 1.25” into no-till terminated rye cover crop
Notes on Trial:Lower than anticipated stand, likely due to heavy cover crop residue and early season pigweed pressure before Peak application. Yields were highly variable and overall average was 32.9 bu/a. However, M66GR32 and BH 4820 stood out with mean performances of 62 bu/a, and M70GR37 with 53 bu/a. Remaining hybrids tested had poorer seed set and contributed to a higher than acceptable CV.
