Nebraska Conservation Partners

This webinar features panelists from USDA NRCS, Nebraska’s Natural Resources Districts and The Nature Conservancy discussing conservation programs that support regenerative agriculture in Nebraska. The discussion highlights available cost-share opportunities, technical assistance and other resources that can help producers implement soil health and conservation practices.

Participants will gain an overview of the agencies that provide support, the types of programs available and how to take the next steps to access conservation funding and technical guidance for on-farm practices.

Junior Pfanstiel

McLean, Nebraska Farmer

Junior Pfanstiel farms with his wife, Katelyn, and their four children near McLean, Nebraska. After exiting the retail ag industry and being fed up with high input prices, he dove head first towards regenerative farming practices. Junior is an agronomy enthusiast and started a business called Outside The Box Agronomy. His farm operation is in the process of transitioning to organic crop production. In 2022, he received the Lower Elkhorn NRD’s Sustainable Agriculture Award.

Angela Knuth farms with her husband, Kerry, and son, Gregory, in Mead, Nebraska. Angela started working on the farm in 2000, operating equipment and handling computer duties. Since then, she has moved into the role of agronomist and precision software technician for the farm and is a graduate of The Soil Food Web School Foundation Courses. Since 2005, Knuth Farms has migrated from full tillage to strip-till, and then to no-till in 2019. Doug Garrison

Malcolm, Nebraska

Doug and his wife, Sheila, operate DS Family Farm. The farm produces pasture-grazed beef, sheep, pastured chickens, and pasture pork. All pasture-raised meat is sold directly to local customers. Our customers show interest in how animals and the land are cared for, in addition to consuming healthy, flavorful pasture-raised proteins. In nature, nutrition always follows flavor.

Doug previously worked for the USDA NRCS and retired after 36 years to focus his efforts on applying land stewardship on the family farm. Using soil health principles in conjunction with a passion for animals, Doug has been able to witness land regeneration that is possible when managing land and animals in ways that mimic natural systems.

Module 3

Farm Support Services

This webinar explores ecosystem services related to regenerative agriculture and how management practices can support long-term system health. Topics include soil carbon and management, water quality and conservation, nutrient and manure management and monitoring soil health.
