Technology Use on Nebraska Farms in 2025

Nebraska farms are dialing back on tech — with computer and precision ag use dropping since 2023 — even as smartphones and internet remain widespread.

According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, 69% of Nebraska farms had access to computers in 2025, down from 77% in 2023, but on par with the national average of 68%. Other forms of technology used on Nebraska farms includes smartphones, 85%, and tablets, 39%. 

In Nebraska, 87% of farms in Nebraska had internet access, down 3% from 2023. Methods used in Nebraska to access the internet included: cellular, 74%; broadband, 54%; satellite, 28%; dialup, 5%; other, 1%. 

Forty-one percent of Nebraska farms were using precision ag practices to manage crops or livestock in 2025, compared to 55% in 2023.
