Nebraska crops continued to advance under another week of favorable field conditions, with producers averaging 6.1 days suitable for fieldwork. Winter wheat harvest accelerated, soybean continued to develop ahead of last year's pace, and corn remained near average for silking. Despite the continued progress, soil moisture remained a concern, with more than half of Nebraska's topsoil and subsoil rated short to very short, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
For the week ending July 13, 2026, topsoil moisture supplies rated 21% very short, 37% short, 38% adequate and 4% surplus, while subsoil moisture rated 27% very short, 35% short, 34% adequate and 4% surplus.
