Nebraska corn is forecast to hit a record 1.93 billion bushels this year, while soybean, wheat and oats see sharp declines, according to USDA’s latest estimates.

Based on Aug. 1 conditions, Nebraska's 2025 corn production is forecast at 1.93 billion bushels, up 7% from last year's production, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. This would be a new record high production if realized. Acreage harvested for grain is estimated at 10.06 million acres, up 5% from a year ago. Average yield is forecast at 192 bushels per acre, up 4 bushels from last year.

Soybean production in Nebraska is forecast at 217 million bushels, down 11% from last year. Area for harvest, at 4.75 million acres, is down 10% from 2024. Yield is forecast at 57 bushels per acre, down 1% from last year. 

Nebraska's 2025 winter wheat crop is forecast at 32.4 million bushels, down 40% from last year. Harvested area for grain, at 810,000 acres, is down 13% from last year. Average yield is forecast at 40 bushels per acre, down 12 bushels per acre from 2024.

Sorghum production of 20.16 million bushels is down 9% from a year ago. Area for grain harvest, at 210,000 acres, is down 21% from last year. Yield is forecast at 96 bushels per acre, up 11 bushels from last year.

Oat production is forecast at 1.38 1.69 million bushels, down 58% from last year. Harvested area for grain, at 25,000 acres, is down 36% from last year. Yield is forecast at 55 bushels per acre, down 14 bushels from 2024.

Dry edible bean production is forecast at 2.72 million cwt, up 39% from last year. The average yield is forecast at 2,250 pounds per acre, up 110 pounds from last year. 

Sugarbeet production is forecast at 1.36 million tons, down 5% from 2024. Area for harvest, at 46,000 acres is down 700 acres from last year. Yield is estimated at 29.5 tons per acre, up 1 ton from a year ago.

Alfalfa hay production is forecast at 3.19 million tons, down 26% from last year. Expected yield, at 4.2 tons per acre, is down 0.10-ton from last year. All other hay production is forecast at 3.0 million tons, up 12% from last year. Forecasted yield, at 2.0 tons per acre, is up 0.30-ton from last year.
