Nebraska’s 2025 crop economy is being carried by corn and soybean, offsetting sharp declines in wheat and forage values.

Nebraska’s 2025 crop values reflect a mixed outlook. Overall value is modestly higher than last year, supported largely by stronger corn and soybean performance. Increased production helped lift total value for both major row crops, even as corn prices softened and soybean prices posted only slight gains.

In contrast, winter wheat and forage crops saw significant declines. Lower prices weighed heavily on wheat, alfalfa and other hay, pulling down their overall production values compared to the previous marketing year.

Taken together, Nebraska’s crop economy in 2025 is being carried by row crops, while small grains and forage sectors continue to face price pressure.
