Warm, dry weather continued across much of Nebraska last week, allowing farmers to make good progress in the field. According to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, there were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending June 15, 2025. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 8% very short, 35% short, 56% adequate, and 1% surplus, while subsoil moisture was rated 16% very short, 44% short, 40% adequate, and 0% surplus.
Field Crops Report:
- Corn
- Emerged: 97% — equal to 97% last year and the five-year average.
- Condition: 1% very poor, 2% poor, 24% fair, 59% good, 14% excellent.
- Soybean
- Planted: 97% — near 98% in 2024 and 99% for the five-year average.
- Emerged: 92% — up from 89% last year, but on track for the 92% average.
- Condition: 1% very poor, 2% poor, 30% fair, 55% good, 12% excellent.
- Winter Wheat
- Headed: 94% — slightly down from 96% last year but ahead of 80% average.
- Condition: 2% very poor, 11% poor, 44% fair, 42% good, 1% excellent.
- Oats
- Emerged: 98% — down slightly from 100% last year and 98% average.
- Headed: 57% — down from 68% in 2024; behind 64% average.
- Condition: 1% very poor, 4% poor, 65% fair, 28% good, 2% excellent.
- Sorghum
- Planted: 69% — well behind 90% in 2024 and 92% average.
- Dry Edible Beans
- Planted: 76% — behind 92% last year and the five-year average of 81%.
