Chlorpyrifos use is currently limited to a narrow set of crops and states as EPA continues its registration review.

The registration review process for chlorpyrifos is ongoing. EPA plans to issue an amended Registration Review Decision for chlorpyrifos for public comment in 2026, followed by an Interim Decision.

EPA currently allows only a narrow set of chlorpyrifos uses while it reevaluates the pesticide in registration review. The decision on Dec. 10, 2024 revoked the tolerance for all food and feed crops, and only 11 food uses remain, limited to specific states listed in Table 1.

In Nebraska, chlorpyrifos use is limited to alfalfa, soybean and wheat (spring and winter).
