Cost: Free
Intended Audience: Farmers, ag industry, extension faculty, government agencies
Purpose of App: To provide timely agricultural information to inform and assist constituents with their business decisions.
Description: Market Journal's award-winning television show is now available for Apple and Android devices. The app includes video segments from the weekly shows as well as end-of-day futures prices, Nebraska daily elevator prices, local weather, and news from various agricultural sources.
Market Journal is an educational outreach effort of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication and the Nebraska Soybean Board. Hosted by Jeff Wilkerson and produced by Kurtis Harms, Market Journal provides:
- current grain/livestock market commentary and analysis;
- weather, climate, and soil moisture updates;
- marketing and management ideas;
- risk management strategies;
- updates on current agricultural policy issues;
- practical advice from seasoned, working producers;
- opportunities to share information and ideas; and
- access to the resources of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension
The app is made possible by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Nebraska Soybean Board.
Fit for Nebraska: This app is a great fit for Nebraska and most midwestern.
Why I like this app: You can find all the weekly Market Journal video segments in one spot. It also lists all of this year’s UNL CropWatch articles, which may be easier than searching the archives on the CropWatch website. The markets are very visual and easy to access. I like the simplicity and usability of this app and that it was developed for Apple and Android markets!
