With two new competitions joining the lineup in the University of Nebraska’s Testing Ag Performance Solutions (TAPS) program for 2024, alongside two longstanding competitions, participants encountered fresh management challenges as they aimed to maximize efficiency and profitability. The eighth annual TAPS Awards Banquet will celebrate these efforts, highlighting participants’ approaches to management and the results from each competition.

The 2024 TAPS culmination event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at the Younes Conference Center South in Kearney, Nebraska. The evening will begin with a social hour at 5 p.m. CST, followed by dinner and the awards presentation.

Since peer-to-peer interaction is a cornerstone of the TAPS program, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with competitors, industry leaders, university staff, and TAPS organizers during the social hour.

Following dinner, UNL-TAPS organizers will present findings from this year’s competitions, sharing data from team decisions and recognizing top performers across the competitions.

This year’s competition roster included the eighth annual sprinkler corn, seventh annual sorghum, and inaugural continuous corn and soybean competitions. The corn competitions were hosted at the West Central Research, Extension and Education Center (WCREEC) in North Platte, Nebraska, while the sorghum competition was held at the Henry J. Stumpf International Wheat Center near Grant, Nebraska, and the soybean competition at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center (ENREEC) near Mead, Nebraska. Awards across competitions will honor achievements in categories such as greatest grain yield, highest input use efficiency, lowest cost of production, and most profitable team.

Additionally, the TAPS Advocate Award will be presented to an individual, group, or business that has significantly supported the TAPS program, whether behind the scenes or in public advocacy. The evening will conclude with door prizes for attendees, including a grand prize giveaway for a 2024 TAPS participant.

For those traveling to the event, a block of rooms has been reserved at the Comfort Inn. Please reference “TAPS” to receive the discounted rate when booking.
