UNL Farm to Families Continues August 23 with an On-Farm Program - UNL CropWatch, Aug. 5, 2011
August 5, 2011
Today’s agriculture is constantly changing, making it important for producers and their families to stay knowledgeable of current issues. Because risk management is more important now than ever for agricultural producers, UNL Extension has developed a new program: From Farms to Families.
This program is designed to empower women in agriculture with a better understanding of the issues that affect their ag operation’s profitability.
The program was first offered in winter 2011 and received possitive reviews from participants.
From Farms to Families will continue August 23 with a field day at the Joe Birky farm located on county road 16, 1/4 mile south of Hwy. 74. The event will start at 6 p.m. with a light meal.
Sessions will include a look at irrigation management technologies, field condition updates, range management, and a brief look at current agricultural issues. This program is sponsored by UNL Extension and Advanced BioEnergy L.L.C
Registration is free, but reservations are needed to plan for the meal. Please contact the Fillmore County Extension office at (402) 759-3712 or Thayer County Extension office at (402) 768-7212 by August 19 to RSVP.
