Fall tillage and fertilizer applications were coming to an end as soil temperatures fell below freezing in western Nebraska, according to USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service Nov. 28 report.
Winter wheat conditions continued to reflect the lack of moisture across its production area. Winter wheat rated 1% very poor, 10% poor, 44% fair, 39% good, and 6% excellent, well below the 68% good to excellent last year. Wheat emergence was complete across the state.
Pasture and range conditions also are below year ago levels at 2% very poor, 7% poor, 34% fair, 54% good, and 3% excellent.
