Corn stocks in Nebraska in all positions on Dec. 1, 2010 totaled 1.2 billion bushels, down 11% from last year, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office. Of the total stocks, 740 million bushels are stored on farms, down 20% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 456 million bushels, are up 11% from 2009 and the second highest on record.

Soybeans stored in all positions on December 1, 2010 totaled 169 million bushels, up 13% from last year. On-farm stocks at 54 million bushels are up 10% from last year. Off-farm stocks of 115 million bushels are up 15% from 2009 and the third highest on record.

Wheat stored in all positions on December 1, 2010 totaled 75.3 million bushels, up 24% from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 6.8 million bushels, are down 12% from 2009. Off-farm stocks, at 68.5 million bushels, are up 29% from last year.

Sorghum stored in all positions on December 1, 2010 totaled 8.5 million bushels, down 39% from 2009 and the lowest since 1956. On-farm stocks are 1.7 million bushels, down 51% from a year ago and the lowest since 1952. Off-farm stocks, at 6.8 million bushels, are down 34% from last year and the lowest since 1956.

Hay stocks on Nebraska farms totaled 4.7 million tons on December 1, 2010, up 5% from 2009.
