No-till Expo June 10 near Amherst
May 22, 2009 No-till farmers and expert speakers will share their experience and research at the Whirlwind No-till Expo June 10 near Amherst.
The day-long event begins at 9 a.m. at the Dennis Abels farm on Nebraska Hwy 40, 5 miles southeast of Miller or 5 miles northwest of Amherst.
The event will feature soil pits on-site and in-field demonstrations. A rainfall simulator will be used to show how continuous no-till improves the quality and water-holding capacity of soil. Other topics will include soil chemistry, crop rotations, irrigation, cover crops, equipment, and fertility. After a morning of in-field presentations, lunch will be served at the Amherst Community Building, followed by speaker presentations indoors.
This event is hosted by No-till on the Plains and partially funded through a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund, administered by PrairieLand RC&D. Preregistration is encouraged by Thursday, June 4.
