Crop Progress: Dry Start to Winter Triggers Wheat Decline

For the week ending Jan. 5, 2025, topsoil moisture supplies rated 17% very short, 41% short, 41% adequate, and 1% surplus, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 27% very short, 37% short, 35% adequate and 1% surplus. 

Field Crops Report:

Winter wheat condition rated 6% very poor, 20% poor, 47% fair, 26% good, and 1% excellent.
