The CropWatch Weekly Irrigation Newsletter now includes a new feature: a short video series demonstrating weekly irrigation scheduling in real time.
This video series will follow a corn field at the South Central Agricultural Lab near Clay Center, Nebraska, where irrigation decisions are made weekly using soil sensor data. The site is equipped with four Watermark sensors installed at 6, 18, 30 and 42 inches, all connected to a 900M Irrometer data logger. Weekly recommendations are applied in the field, and the resulting changes in soil water levels are shown in the following week’s charts. We also plan to share yield results after harvest.
Each video highlights how to apply the straightforward method outlined in EC3036, "Irrigation Scheduling Strategies When Using Soil Water Data". This scheduling approach is simple yet effective — it can be used in the field or at the office to make precise irrigation decisions in just a few minutes.
For a broader overview of the scheduling method, check out the five-part video series on the CropWatch YouTube channel: "How to Schedule Irrigations with Soil Water Data". It’s a great option if you prefer watching videos over reading the publication.
You can find each new weekly video in the CropWatch Weekly Irrigation Newsletter or MediaHub channel.
