First Friday Weather Outlook Series

First Friday is a monthly weather series hosted by Eric Hunt, agricultural meteorology and climate resilience extension educator. Each episode features insights on weather conditions across Nebraska and the broader Midwest, along with updates on the long-range outlook. The series is pre-recorded and available to view after 9 a.m. CT on the first Friday of each month.

Ask a Question

If you have a question you’d like Eric to address in a future monthly update, or if a previous video didn’t cover a topic you’re curious about, please send it to us.

Ask a Question

Will May bring any relief to Nebraska’s drought? The latest outlook shows a dry start to the month, with little to no precipitation expected in the next two weeks. Nebraska Extension Meteorologist Eric Hunt breaks down what that means for planting, forage and water supplies — and whether a shift to wetter conditions later this month or into summer is still on the table.
