The USDA Farm Service Agency and UNL Extension offices in Webster and Nuckolls counties are teaming up to present informational meetings on the new farm bill. The Webster County meetings will be held on Tuesday, August 19 beginning at 9 a.m. in Red Cloud at the Community Center and repeating at 1:30 p.m. in Blue Hill at the Community Center. The Nuckolls County meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 20 in the Nelson City Auditorium.
Topics at the Webster County meetings will include:
- 2008 farm bill
- New permanent disaster program (including SURE)
- "Buy-In" deadline of September 16
- Update on 2009 changes to existing programs
- Audience questions
Topics at the Nuckolls County meeting will include:
- New permanent disaster programs, including SURE
- NAP (Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance)
- Payment Limitation & Payment Eligibility changes
- DCP, including the new ACRE option
- New acreage reporting requirements
- Farm Loan Program news and updates
- CRP & CREP news and updates
- Any other information available at meeting time
