Nebraska Wheat Crop Down 18% from 2014
Based on May 1 conditions, Nebraska's 2015 winter wheat crop is forecast at 58.4 million bushels, down 18% from last year's crop, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Average yield is forecast at 40 bushels per acre, down 9 bushels from a year earlier.
Acreage to be harvested for grain is estimated at 1.46 million acres, up slightly from a year ago. This would be 91% of the planted acres, below last year's 94%
