Fields with economic populations of common stalk borer in corn should be treated soon in southern Nebraska. In other parts of the state, begin scouting grassy field borders and corn at 1,300-1,400 degree days. Plan to make insecticide treatment decisions in corn when 1,400-1,700 degree days have occurred.
For more information on scouting and treatment, see Managing Stalk Borers in Corn.
