Heavy weevil feeding requiring treatment has been identified in at least 11 northeast Nebraska fields, including in Cuming County and near Plainview. If feeding damage is visible in these northeast Nebraska counties, it's likely visible in much of the rest of the state where alfalfa is grown.
The map represents growing degree accumulations, base 48, as of April 30, used to determine the development of the alfalfa weevil. Prepare to scout for alfalfa weevils when GDD accumulations approach 350. This is when visible damage on the tips of the alfalfa can first be detected.
