UNL-TAPS to Host Summer Field Day on June 19

The Testing Ag Performance Solutions (TAPS) program looks forward to hosting its upcoming summer field day on Wednesday, June 19. This event aims to engage TAPS participants and the public in an educational morning, followed by a social afternoon.

The 2024 TAPS Summer Field Day will begin at 9 a.m. CDT at the West Central Research, Extension and Education Center (WCREEC) in North Platte, Nebraska. The event will feature the Agronomic Olympics, with updated and unique challenges, sensor company demonstrations, guest speakers, a provided lunch and an optional four-man golf scramble in the afternoon.

This marks the fourth consecutive year of the Agronomic Olympics, an event designed to enhance experiential learning. TAPS team members, specialists and industry representatives will offer opportunities for participants to engage in skill-based exercises related to the TAPS management decisions. The Agronomic Olympics aim to stretch attendees' existing capabilities while providing a fun and educational experience. Prizes will be awarded to the top-scoring Olympians.

In addition, agricultural technology companies will be present to answer questions and showcase their products. Sensor companies will be on-hand and offer small group Q&A sessions. A handful of biological and additive company representatives will present on their products and their growing industry.

Lunch will be provided for all attendees, followed by a social afternoon activity. The four-man golf scramble will begin at 2 p.m. CDT at Indian Meadows Golf Course, located just a couple of miles northwest of WCREEC. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams at the end of the tournament, along with flag prizes on select holes. Those wishing to participate in the golf tournament may register in advance or in person on the morning of the field day. Spots are limited to 36 participants, with an entry fee of $30 per person, payable on the day of the event via cash or check.
